3. Hepatitis B positive health counselling

The hepatitis B screening is mandatory during the second year of all BSN students. Once a student is discovered to be Hepatitis B positive he or she is called together with their respective parent or guardian.

A meeting is set. This is normally a two part meeting, school physician – parent/guardian meeting and second part includes the student. This meeting takes place at the clinic and is closed - door.

During the meeting, we discuss the result of the screening, the process of the blood testing and important details regarding the virus. Lastly, we assure the parents/guardians and students that their anonymity is maintained.
