The TOP Nursing Schools for 2009
The top nursing schools for 2009 for Range 1 (with 1,000 and up takers) are: Far Eastern University-Manila (NCR) with 1,982 passers out of 2,656 takers or 74.62 percent passing rate; Centro Escolar University-Manila (NCR) with 720 out of 1,002 or 71.86 %; Manila Doctors College (NCR) with 704 out of 1,011 or 69.63 %; Manila Central University-Caloocan City (NCR) with 598 out of 1,048 or 57.06%
 
MDC, TRINITY PARTNER FOR NEW GRAD COURSES
In a bid to contribute to the development of Nursing mentors in the country, the Manila Doctors College inked an agreement with the Trinity University of Asia (TUA) on May 12 formally starting a partnership to offer key post-graduate programs for Nurses.
 
MANDARIN COURSE AT MDC
The Manila Doctors College (MDC) is offering a short-term language courses like Mandarin, Nihongo, Spanish, Italian and French designed to cater to the conversational and writing skills needed in an individual’s line of work.
 
COMELEC VISITS MDC
Representatives from the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) visited Manila Doctors College (MDC) on March 9 in a move aimed at educating the public on the benefits of the 2010 Automated National Elections.
 
REGISTRAR JOINS DIALOGUE ON GRAD RITES RATIONALIZATION
The Manila Doctors College took part in a gathering dubbed Consultative Meeting on Rationalizing Graduation Rituals last April 19, 2010 at the Trinity University of Asia.

The meeting discussed the status of two-year courses that antedated the CHED’s implementation of policies and guidelines for various program offerings. It also tackled the ladderization of programs that are under consideration. The discussion also proposed measures for the effective phase out of two-year programs outside of CHED’s jurisdiction or their integration within the regular degree programs.

 
MDC Fetes Excellent High School Grads
The Manila Doctors College hosted a simple party in the school ground last April 10 recognizing the achievements of high school seniors who graduated with honors from their respective schools.

MDC hosted the testimonial dinner and awarded certificates of recognition to the visiting high school graduates to encourage them to continue pursuing excellence in their academic endeavors.

 
GMA PRODS PINOY YOUTHS TO LEAD DURING MDC VISIT
The Manila Doctors College (MDC) played host to President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo last March 17 when the Chief Executive visited the school as part of her campus swing to promote the government’s three-pronged program that included bringing more power to the regions, pushing the 3E’s - Education, Economy and Environment, and bannering the youth as RP’s “best hope for the future.”
 
BS PSYCH GETS NOD FROM PACUCOA
The BS Psychology program of the College smoothly hurdled an accreditation visit from the Philippine Association of Colleges and Universities Commission on Accreditation (PACUCOA) last May 4 when the body officially granted it for 2 years.

CON to Hold Research Congress
Manila Doctors College will hold the Research Congress entitled Enhancing Nursing Competence through Quality Research on February 19, 2010 at the Manila Doctors College Gymnasium.
 
CON Holds Echo-Seminar on Research and Writing Management
To further increase the knowledge and understanding of research advisers aimed at enhancing the quality of research papers among their student advisees, the College of Nursing conducted a seminar on ‘research and writing management from Jan. 7 to 8 at the Manila Doctors College function room.
 
MODERN SPEECH LAB UNVEILED
A new state-of-the-art Speech Laboratory was unveiled on Dec. 1, 2009. It is the latest addition to the growing number of facilities being put up to enhance student learning at MDC.
 
NUTRITION UNDERGOES EVALUATION
In a move designed to ensure that the School’s BS Holistic Nutrition with Culinary Arts is well within the academic standards of the higher education in the country, Ms. Emeralda Peralta, Chair of the Board of Examiner of Nutrition and Dietetics of the Professional Regulation Commission (PRC), and Dr. Leonore N. Panlasigui, Dean of the Graduate School and School of Nutrition of the Philippine Women’s University (PWU), examined the strength of faculty, curriculum, facilities and other key areas of the Nutrition program in the Manila Doctors College.
 
HRM, NUTRITION TO PARTNER WITH M’LA PAVILION
Students of BS Holistic Nutrition with Culinary Arts (HCNA) and BS Hotel and Restaurant Management (HRM) will experience working in an actual environment of their respective fields as a result of a partnership between Manila Doctors College (MDC) and the Manila Pavilion Hotel on Nov. 26, 2009.
 
CON Team Leaders, Coordinators Enjoin to visit Clinical Areas, Classrooms
The College of Nursing (CON) called on its Team Leaders and Coordinators to intensify their visits of clinical areas and observation of classrooms starting January, 2010. The move aims to raise awareness of the issues and concerns of faculty members.

Math Chair Joins Davao Confab
The dreadful subject called Mathematics took centerstage when mentors from all over the country gathered during the MTAP – Tertiary Level Chapter 2009 Annual Convention at the University of Mindanao-Matina campus, Davao from Aug. 3 to 4.

This year’s theme Responding to Global Challenges in Mathematics Education aims to find means to stimulate student interest and enhance teaching skills in the subject.

In a move to familiarize themselves with the procedures involved in the Institutional Monitoring and Evaluation for Quality Assurance in Higher Education (IQUAME) accreditation, 21 key School Administrators visited the University of the East last to gain firsthand knowledge of the Recto-based school’s own experience with the whole procedure.

MDC BS NUTRITION SENIORS TO TRAIN AT MDH
The Manila Doctors College (MDC) and the Manila Doctors Hospital (MDH) inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) last July 29 at the MDC Speech Laboratory formally binding them to a program aimed at strengthening the exposure of MDC BS Nutrition with Culinary Arts students to clinical nutrition techniques at the MDH Dietary Department.
